Book Summary: We Meet Again by Savita Nair
If you are drawn towards heady emotions, endless conversations, the highs and lows of everyday life and the deliberations of love, then WE MEET AGAIN by Savita Nair is for you.
It is a cornucopia of feelings, a kaleidoscope of reflections and a melange of opinions. It is the author’s very soul and heart, mirrored in words. And she aims to share this with her poetic renditions – sometimes gentle, sometimes brutal.
Read it at leisure, while sipping a glass of wine or coffee – and mull over each line. Let the words romance you, unhurried. The pleasure of a poem is in your own interpretation, so draw yours, fearlessly.
Take care…till We Meet Again.
Book Review: We Meet Again by Savita Nair
Poetry is such a personal experience on what will impact us when we read the words and what will not. Every single person has a unique experience to the way it is written. No two interpretations of any one poem are the same, probably. I enjoy seeing how others piece together what they are experiencing and how it brings some insight into my own life.
When a poet writes a poem, they are, in essence, writing to themselves. Poems are personal. There is a piece of the author within every word. Poetry tells many stories, and it tells them through a unique medium of thought, emotion, and word choice. Sometimes those stories are happy. Sometimes angry or sad. And sometimes, those poems are the stories we wish we didn’t have to tell. Some words hit harder than others, some collections work and some don’t. For me, ‘We Meet Again’ by Savita Nair completely worked and there were a few poems that will stay with me for a long time.
We Meet Again is a collection of poetry with the themes of love as well as random things out of the blue, including travel, strange emotions and feelings, memories of past, meeting new people, and our surroundings. Topics found in this book are endlessly wide, however, Savita Nair still manages to write fluently that will blow your mind away. It will stick to your feelings and invigorate your inner cries a little bit, but most importantly it is an additional stunning perspective to view the world you live in. It’s a book that gives the reader insight of the mind when relaxed and reminiscing over the events that have happened whether a day or years ago.
The collection is about not only learning to love yourself and the things you cannot change but also to forgive yourself. It’s about reaching for kindness and trying to see the world through the eyes of others. However, reading this book made the poet seems like a friend, just another human being going through this funny thing we call life. As if a conversation of meaning was being passed back and forth. It contains so much life-changing and heart-warming poems that are formatted in such a way that allows the reader to feel connected to everything being said.
Savita Nair’s writing is eloquent and exhilarating. One aspect that really took my breath away was her ability to render ideas of her own into intricate details with the significance still intact. In this collection of poetry, her words were articulate, well chosen and compendious. Each poem touches the heart and feeds the soul without having to use complicated and deep ways to make you feel something. They felt deep, touching, clever, real, conveyed oceans of feeling and resonated with some of my own experiences. Here is the one of the many poems I liked from the collection.
Life is Coming For You:
We aren’t made with endless bridges of hope
Neither are we filled with stagnant buckets of mope.
We’re just a juxtaposition of tiny jumbles
We build and then quickly crumble.
We’re strong and yet so feeble
We’re vile and yet so agreeable.
We can be shaken and stay resolute
We can be vague and turn absolute.
We may be mean and still disarming
We may be chaotic and still be calming.
We hold the potential of worst and best
We live the extremes of peace and unrest.
Yes, we may falter, with every blow
Yes, we may alter, each time we glow.
Yes, we’ll go through the days where we succumb
Yes, we’ll have those days of playing dumb.
Sure, we’ll end up vanquished and then some more
Sure, we’ll find a day when we bounce back to keep score.
This is never going to be easy, but you knew it
This may not be too clean, but you’ll never rue it.
So take that sword, take that bandage too
Make a clean break, find a fresh glue
It’s not a now-or-never situation that you need to work
It’s a lifetime of decisions that you cannot shirk.
Are you listening, are you ready to make new
For even if you’re not, life is coming for you..
