Book Summary: Tom Collins by Douglas Vigliotti
What if that person from the bar—you know, the one you just slept with—turns out to be your boss’s spouse?
When soul-searching Christian meets Liv, stars align and her green eyes burn a hole straight through him. Their playful attraction quickly escalates into something much more. But Liv has a little more to her story—one that will turn his life upside down and entangle him in a predicament for the ages. She’s married to his new boss.
With a dash of dark humor, the story ensues and things begin to heat up. A ball-busting buddy tries to save Christian from himself, but a work event places everyone together on a weekend trip to Golden Beach, FL. As tension builds, his work nemesis, knack for late-night partying, and (most importantly) Liv don’t make things any easier. Christian begins to question everything he thought he knew. It’s not until he stumbles upon a mysterious aging rock star that he starts to see things a bit differently. And sometimes, the way you look at something can change everything.
Tom Collins is more than an edgy, sexy story of lust, attraction, and infidelity. It’s about how our lives come to be and what shapes us along the way.
Book Review: Tom Collins by Douglas Vigliotti
Tom Collins is an angsty office romance between a confident, successful Christian and enigmatic Liv. Despite being successful and single, Christian still feels there is something missing in his life. After meeting Liv, he feels he has found something he is searching for. A common interest in classic rock music brings them closer. Initially playful, their mutual attraction develops into something more. In his excitement and nervousness, Christian discovers that he has a lot more to worry about! It turns out Liv is married to Christian’s new boss, which puts Christian in a very difficult position!
Having read a fair share of office romance in the past couple of years I can honestly say that this is one of the best in category. Author Douglas Vigliotti takes a unique approach to the sub-genre and allow the readers to get to know both the heroine and the hero. Provocative, Stimulating and Intriguing, ‘Tom Collins’ by Douglas Vigliotti will have you engrossed in the story of two people trying to find the balance of having it all surrounded by the cut throat world of office drama.
Douglas Vigliotti wrote a story with the perfect blend of humor, passion and drama. His writing just flowed and had me invested from the moment I began to read. There is a chance, when an author tells a story such as this, the male ends up being a bit of a doormat in part because of the situation he has found himself in. But not so with Christian. He may have understood his actions ultimately put him in an untenable Situation, but he is the person who in no way takes things lying down. Sometimes an author has a way of working their characters straight into your heart and this was the case with ‘Tom Collins’.
This book delivered exactly what I expected it to deliver; a perfectly, hilarious romantic affair that had me smiling from ear to ear. From its front cover to story delivery, to its comical one liners and romantic adventure everything pulled together to offer any light hearted romance addict the perfect getaway. I got lost in this story, literally not moving off the sofa until the last paragraph.
I liked this story, and loved the characters of Christian and Liv and the romantic tension between them. The backgrounds that the author gave them both gave gravitas to how they are characterized at the beginning of the book. As the story develops you see how both of them change as people and towards each other as they learn more about themselves and the other, because of the situation they are in. The humour with which the author never fails to paint even the bluest of situations is admirable. I also liked the depth of emotion driving this story forward and its positive outlook on life, never showing life as anything less than a glass half full.
This is the kind of story that you can re-read again; it just never gets old. The characters are original, quirky and so very interesting, they’ll make you want to stop and think about life and all the weird and wonderful stuff in it. Liv is the kind of character that I would love to meet and spend time with. I think Tom Collins makes an excellent read, and I highly recommend this very unique book. I am really looking forward to read more by Douglas Vigliotti.
